SOURCE REVIEW PENDING Physical-marker text in this legacy guide is being migrated to linked evidence. Use it as an investigation checklist, not a verdict.

Batch Code Decoder

Where to find it: Printed on the bottom flap of the box and stamped on the base or back label of the bottle.

Authenticity Indicators

These observations can support a review, but no single indicator proves authenticity.

Snowflake emblem

The Mont Blanc snowflake (six-pointed star) appears on the cap and box of authentic fragrances. On genuine pieces, the snowflake is precisely rendered with equal-length points and consistent line weight. Fake snowflakes are often asymmetric or have unequal points.

Explorer bottle design

The Explorer bottle has a distinctive squat, rounded-rectangular profile with a brushed silver cap. On authentic bottles, the glass is even and heavy. The Mont Blanc name is engraved cleanly at the base. Fake bottles have thinner glass and less precise engraving.

Legend bottle

Mont Blanc Legend has a clean, cylindrical bottle with a deep blue band around the neck. On authentic bottles, the blue band is consistent in width and intensity around the entire circumference. Fakes have an uneven or faded blue band.

Cap engraving quality

The Mont Blanc name and snowflake are engraved into the cap on premium lines. On authentic pieces, the engraving is deep and clean. Counterfeit caps have shallower or etched-rather-than-engraved marks.

Box typography

Mont Blanc uses a precise serif typeface for its branding. On authentic boxes, the text is consistently inked with sharp edges. Counterfeit boxes use a slightly different weight typeface or have blurry text.

Reasons to Investigate

A red flag calls for more evidence; it is not a counterfeit verdict on its own.

Asymmetric or simplified snowflake

The Mont Blanc snowflake is a precise six-pointed emblem. Any asymmetry, different number of points, or simplified rendering is an immediate counterfeit indicator.

Made outside EU

Mont Blanc fragrances are produced in the EU under Inter Parfums. A non-EU country of origin is a counterfeit flag.

Explorer off-scent

Mont Blanc Explorer opens with bergamot, vetiver, and Haitian amyris. The opening should be fresh and slightly smoky-earthy. A purely citrus opening without the vetiver smokiness indicates counterfeit juice.

Legend blue band uneven

If the blue band around the Legend bottle neck is uneven in width, smeared, or a different shade of blue than expected, the bottle is likely counterfeit.

Very low price

Mont Blanc fragrances retail from $50–$120. Prices below $25 on informal sellers are almost always counterfeit.
