Authenticity Indicators
These observations can support a review, but no single indicator proves authenticity.
Ribbon bow on bottle
The iconic Chloé EDP bottle features a fabric ribbon bow tied at the neck. On authentic bottles, the ribbon is made of quality grosgrain or satin fabric in a specific off-white/ivory color. Fake ribbons are thinner, polyester-feeling, or have a slightly wrong color tone.
Bottle silhouette
The classic Chloé EDP bottle has a soft, rounded, feminine silhouette inspired by the 1970s original. The glass curves are smooth and consistent. Fake bottles are often slightly too tall, too wide, or have less graceful curves.
Engraved text on bottle
The Chloé name is engraved or printed in a specific script typeface on the bottle. On authentic pieces, the letters have consistent stroke width and depth. On fakes, the engraving is shallower or the printed text has inconsistent ink density.
Juice color
Chloé EDP is a distinctive pale rose/blush pink. It should be consistent in color throughout the bottle. Any cloudiness, darker patches, or colorless juice is a red flag.
Box construction
Authentic Chloé fragrance boxes are rigid with clean, feminine design. The inner box is lined or has a fitted tray. The exterior uses the brand's signature typography. Any flimsy, thin, or poorly printed box is counterfeit.
Reasons to Investigate
A red flag calls for more evidence; it is not a counterfeit verdict on its own.
Wrong ribbon material
The bow on a fake Chloé bottle is almost always lower quality than the original — too shiny, too thin, or using a different ribbon width. The knot on the authentic bow is also a specific size and shape.
Pale or colorless juice
Chloé EDP should have a distinct blush/rose color. If the juice looks watery or colorless, it is likely counterfeit or heavily diluted.
Made outside France or EU
Chloé fragrances are manufactured in France and the EU under Coty. Any non-EU country of manufacture is a counterfeit indicator.
Missing cellulose wrap
New Chloé fragrances from authorized retailers are sealed with tight cellophane. Missing or re-applied shrink wrap on a supposedly new bottle indicates tampering.
Off-scent opening
Chloé EDP opens with rose, peony, and freesia. Nomade opens with oakmoss and mirabelle plum. A sharp, synthetic, or sour opening that doesn't match the known profile is a counterfeit sign.
